It would be our honor to provide you and your family with an exclusive trip to scatter the ashes of your loved one on the gold coast waterways.

Whether on the Broadwater, nestled into Wavebreak Island, in the Seaway, or in the ocean, we can create a trip to suit your needs.

We can take up to 10 guests inside the seaway, and 6 on the ocean. You can bring whoever is suitable for your memorial to pay respect to your loved one.

We can work with you to create the most relevant and appropriate moment for your family.

The prices for this service is $749 for 1.5 hours and can include a sparkling wine toast and a snack plate per person. Extended times available.

We welcome you, your family, and friends aboard our yacht at the designated pontoon in Main Beach. Take your time boarding and settling in as we prepare for this meaningful memorial service.

2. Safety Briefing

Our experienced skipper or crew will provide a brief safety orientation to ensure everyone's comfort and security throughout the ashes scattering charter.

3. Personalized Memorial Planning

We'll take time to speak with your family to:

Confirm your wishes regarding the cremation ashes scattering ceremony

Discuss the location you've chosen on the Gold Coast Broadwater or Ocean

Explain what to expect during the memorial charter

Answer any questions you may have about the ashes scattering service

4. Journey to Your Chosen Location

We'll cruise to your selected scattering location, giving you time to reflect and prepare for the scattering of your loved one's ashes.

5. The Ashes Scattering Ceremony on the Gold Coast Waters

Traditional Scattering:

The yacht will position at your chosen location

Family members move to the stern (back) of the yacht

As we move slowly forward, you scatter the ashes on the water, which will float gently out behind the yacht

You are welcome to bring flowers to sprinkle on the water with the ashes if you wish

Eco Pillow Option (preferred option):

Family members can remain at the side of the yacht

Gently place the biodegradable urn or eco pillow into the water

Musical Accompaniment and Flowers:

Our speaker system is available for you to play your loved one's favourite songs during the memorial service or at the time of scattering

You are welcome to bring flowers to sprinkle on the water with the ashes if you wish

6. Memorial Toast & Refreshments

Following the cremation ceremony, we serve:

A drink to toast your loved one

A snack plate with cheese and crackers and fruit

7. Peaceful Reflection Cruise

Enjoy a tranquil memorial cruise around the Broadwater, surrounded by the peace and beauty of nature on the water. Take this time to reflect, share memories, and find comfort together on this special farewell journey.

8. Memorial Certificate & Photographs At the conclusion of your private charter, we will provide you with images / videos taken on behalf of your family. We will also present you with a certificate noting the navigational points of where the ashes were scattered.

Our Story

When we started Sun Sailing a few years ago, I had just lost both of my parents. During that difficult time, I found myself drawn to the ocean - its always been my peaceful place, perhaps because of it's vastness, its peace, and the way it connects us all.

Going through the experience of saying goodbye to both Mum and Dad, I realized how important it is to have someone who understands, someone who can guide you through to honour their final wishes with care and compassion.

That's why we began offering ash scattering ceremonies on our yacht. Not just as a service, but as something deeply personal.
